Doxa expands its lightweight titanium lineup with the new SUB 300 Ti5 collection

July’s SUB 300 Ti5 Clive Cussler marked the return of grade 5 titanium to Doxa’s iconic dive watch, pairing the material with a layered titanium dial and a limited, 300-piece production run. That release now looks like it was the opening chapter of a broader project. The SUB 300 Ti5 is joining the permanent collection in the colours most closely associated with Doxa, while retaining the same lightweight case in a range built for regular production. The move also makes the Ti5 proposition considerably easier to access, giving buyers a choice beyond the Cussler model’s sandblasted metal dial and literary connection. Nearly 60 years after the original SUB 300 arrived in 1967, the formula remains clear: high visibility, a functional dive bezel and a case shaped by purpose.
The grade 5 titanium case measures 42.5mm across, 45mm from lug to lug and 13.4mm thick, dimensions that preserve the compact stance of the SUB 300. Titanium extends to the screw-down crown and screw-in caseback, and the metal is around 40% lighter than stainless steel. Its strength, corrosion resistance and biocompatibility make plenty of sense around saltwater and during long stretches on the wrist. A domed glass-box sapphire crystal brings the expected profile overhead, with anti-reflective treatment helping the dial stay readable. Water resistance is rated to 300 metres, and Doxa’s patented unidirectional bezel retains its paired depth and dive-time scales for tracking US Navy no-decompression limits.
As with several Doxa collections recently, colour plays a huge part in the overall style, each with its own name. Professional arrives in Doxa orange, Sharkhunter uses black, Caribbean turns deep blue, and Red Coral lands in rich cherry red. Together they place titanium into the core visual language of the SUB range, from the orange that defined the 1967 original to the darker options intended for lower-key daily wear. The oversized minute hand appears in orange or black, and Super-LumiNova covers the dive indications beneath the crystal. Whitepearl takes the most technically distinctive route, coating the entire white dial in Super-LumiNova so the full surface glows as ambient light drops. It comes with either a black or a white strap, creating two references from a single dial treatment and bringing the total collection to six configurations.
Inside sits the Sellita SW200-1, an automatic calibre with hours, minutes, seconds and a date display. It runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, uses 26 jewels and offers approximately 38 hours of power reserve. Every movement receives individual COSC chronometer certification following testing across several positions and temperatures, giving the whole line the same independently verified standard of precision as the recent Clive Cussler edition. Doxa decoration completes a practical, well-established movement choice.
Each model is fitted to Doxa’s Dive Flex rubber strap, finished with a woven texture and secured by a pin buckle. The strap is supplied tone-on-tone with the dial or in black, depending on the reference, with Whitepearl adding a dedicated white option. Rubber keeps the package light, handles water naturally and gives the broad titanium case a close, flexible fit.
The SUB 300 Ti5 turns the Cussler edition’s material story into a permanent family, giving grade 5 titanium a lasting place within Doxa’s most recognisable collection. The familiar colours preserve the distinct personalities that have grown around the SUB 300 over the decades, and Whitepearl adds a more technical expression through its fully luminous dial. Lighter on the wrist, resistant to demanding environments and offered across the core Doxa palette, the Ti5 feels like a natural next stage for the design.
