It feels like Bremont has found its stride with Davide Cerrato at the helm. With updated Altitude models and the Terra Nova collection, Bremont is striking a balance between a distinctly British take on utilitarian tool watches and more mainstream appeal. The Supernova collection was first introduced in April 2026 at Watches and Wonders 2026, but, continuing with the theme of space exploration, Bremont has followed up the Supernova debut with a new limited edition model celebrating the life’s work of scientist Stephen Hawking.
The Bremont Supernova Hawking Limited Edition is the second model Bremont has released in collaboration with the Hawking family, celebrating the life’s work of Stephen Hawking. With the clear astronomical influence and ambitions of the revamped Supernova line, Bremont felt it was time to revisit its collaborative relationship with the Hawking family. Stephen Hawking’s life’s work centred on researching cosmology, space, and time, with his best-known discoveries focused on black holes. His theory of “Hawking Radiation” revealed that black holes emit energy, possess temperature, and evolve. This discovery greatly shaped modern science’s understanding of black holes and our universe.
Hawking’s research serves as the primary inspiration for the new Bremont Supernova Hawking Limited Edition. The angular case is made of 904L stainless steel and is treated with an ultra-black DLC coating. The bezel is made of black ceramic, with a brushed surface and polished facets around the edge. The case utilises a layered construction, recalling Bremont’s iconic Trip-Tick case design.
The case measures 41mm in diameter, 14.4mm thick, 48.7mm lug-to-lug, and has a 20mm lug width. The open case back reveals the movement, with a black hole design printed on the sapphire crystal. The Bremont Supernova lives up to full sports-watch expectations, with a water resistance rating of 100 metres.
The dial design continues with the theme of space exploration. The interlocking grid pattern of the dial is inspired by solar arrays on spacecraft, with triangular pathways that draw attention to the centre. The sub-dials for the running seconds and chronograph minutes are made of meteorite, with black surrounds and printed indices for the function demarcations. Above the date window at six o’clock is Hawking’s name and his black hole entropy equation. The applied triangular indices and rhomboidal black-gold hands are filled with white, blue glowing Super-LumiNova. The dial is covered with a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.
The Bremont Supernova Hawking Limited Edition is powered by the BC77 movement. Based on the Sellita SW500, the movement features a Glucydur balance wheel, an Anachron balance spring, a Nivaflex mainspring, and a custom-decorated rotor. The movement operates at 28,800 bph, has 27 jewels, a 62-hour power reserve, and is chronometer certified to the ISO 3159 standard.
The Bremont Supernova Hawking Limited Edition is available with either an ultra-black DLC-coated 904L steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp or a black rubber strap with a deployant clasp. Both feature quick-release spring bars for easy swaps between the two.
Ultimately, a watch model named the Supernova was ripe for a Hawking twist, and this limited edition balances the established Supernova design codes with various Hawking-inspired elements in a manner both watch and space geeks stand to enjoy.
