The Chapter 7 Skeleton is BA111OD’s most refined, best-value integrated bracelets sports watch yet

The Chapter 7 Skeleton is BA111OD’s most refined, best-value integrated bracelets sports watch yet

Tom Austin

Here we are, mid-way through 2026, and the integrated bracelet watch phenomenon is still going strong. Over the last year, even as the wider community called for more measured coverage of integrated bracelets, we’ve continued to see popular releases fuel the hype and keep the momentum going. This is because it never really was a hype trend at all. Yes, integrated bracelet watches have come and gone in style since the 70s, but they’ve always been there, ticking away, and you better believe they aren’t going away anytime soon.

Watches like the Royal Oak and Nautilus set the benchmark for modern desirability, but their inaccessibility led the market to look elsewhere, prompting brands to dig deep into their archives to offer collectors an alternative. Then, in early 2021, Tissot lit the touchpaper with the PRX, reissuing the 1978 design as a stylish, accessible alternative that everyone fell for. The PRX’s popularity ignited a race to produce incredible, and importantly, affordable integrated bracelet watches, and this gave the independent microbrand end of the industry a springboard it needed. Now, several brands offer affordable, yet impactful, integrated bracelet watches, and with so many out there, what makes one truly stand out?

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 2

BA111OD is a Swiss brand with big ambitions. Watches like the recent Chapter 4 Tourbillon T.V.D. prove that, when it comes to technically ambitious watchmaking at accessible prices, the brand isn’t interested in playing small. Its integrated bracelet offering, the Chapter 7, has been around since 2023 and, with its relatively restrained collection of standard dials, has arguably needed a stronger voice despite its affordability. The brand’s latest release, the Chapter 7 Skeleton, has other ideas. This is a Chapter 7 with attitude, and BA111OD isn’t letting this one go quietly.

The case

The whole point of an integrated bracelet watch is presence. Small iterations are fine for smaller wrists, but tapering the bracelet into the case makes things wear bigger, so it has to be balanced. The Chapter 7’s 40mm case does this perfectly, with its tonneau-shaped silhouette giving it just enough size for average wrists, without going overboard. This balance is achieved by a 47mm lug-to-lug measurement and a comfortably thin 10.5mm overall thickness, which, when you consider the crown is angled to 4 o’clock, brings everything together in a compact yet purposeful package.

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 4

Crafted from 316L stainless steel, the Chapter 7 features a vertically brushed finish with polished facets, giving the watch a contemporary, luxurious feel, accentuated by the dark anthracite PVD coating, which lends it a moody yet distinctive look. The same finish extends to the decagonal fixed bezel, which locks in an anti-reflective-coated flat sapphire crystal. That, including the sapphire exhibition case back, delivers 100 metres of water resistance, ensuring everyday wearability is a top priority.

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 5

As far as integrated bracelet watches go, the case architecture is familiar, but this is not a pitfall of the Chapter 7. The proportions mean it wears comfortably and looks almost undersized on the wrist, primarily due to the absence of unnecessary angles and facets. The finish is excellent throughout, with the dark PVD coating creating darkened reflections on the polished bevels, meaning the watch flies well under the radar until you really take a closer look.

The dial

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 6

Skeletonised dials at this price point can sometimes be a sticky point. A handful of cut-outs does not a skeleton dial make, and the BA111OD Chapter 7 Skeleton avoids that trap entirely. This skeletonised dial, in true BA111OD style, has been properly engineered into a true open-worked design, with layered bridges, exposed mechanics and enough structure to prevent the dial from collapsing into visual chaos.

The anthracite PVD coating continues across the dial and bridges, incorporating the thin chapter ring and lumed, applied hour markers to create a skeletonised dial that you can actually read, which is impressive, even in the dark. The dial’s cutouts all feature polished bevels, too, which adds to that luxurious finish and attention to detail, contrasting beautifully with the grained texture that sits between each hour marker. The dial’s overall symmetry is contrasted with the complexity beneath it, yet it doesn’t interrupt the flow of the design as some skeletonised dials do.

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 8

It’s remarkably clear that this isn’t a dial that’s been skeletonised for the sake of it. The positions of the cutouts are intentional, centralised around elements of the gear train, mainspring and balance wheel, to draw your eye toward them without being distracting. The inclusion of a sapphire exhibition case back means that at certain points, you can see directly through the watch, which certainly adds a sense that the Chapter 7 Skeleton is something a little more special.

The movement

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 9

An integral part of the dial is the Soprod P024SQ automatic movement beneath it. First of all, the brass gear train, balance wheel, and rubies add a splash of colour to what is a relatively monochromatic look, but overall, it’s a fairly simple movement, and this is likely where the price point of the Chapter 7 becomes a little more evident. This self-winding calibre delivers a 38-hour power reserve, which, by today’s standards, could perhaps be more generous, especially given that BA111OD has access to more complex in-house movement development. The same can be said for the oscillating rotor, visible through the transparent case back, which may have benefited from a more bespoke, BA111OD-like touch.

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 10

Nevertheless, the Soprod is an excellent movement for this price point, offering dependable, reliable performance, and it has to be said, at least when looking through the front of the watch, it’s an impressive talking point that you’ll have a hard time taking your eyes off each time you look at it.

The bracelet

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 11

The stainless steel case beautifully transitions into the sturdy yet sophisticated anthracite-coloured H-link bracelet. The taper is relatively subtle, sloping down over just three links, but any narrower, and the bracelet would look completely unbalanced. Each link is treated to the same fine brushing and polished edges as the case, resulting in a tactile, comfortable feel that wraps neatly around the wrist.

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 12

Unlike several integrated bracelets at this price point, the Chapter 7 arrives with a stainless steel folding clasp operated by two push buttons on either side and features a tool-free micro-adjustment system, ensuring a perfect fit in any condition. The bracelet is removable via small conventional spring bars and can be swapped out for BA111OD’s range of rubber straps, which adds some additional versatility to the Chapter 7.

The verdict

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 13

BA111OD’s Chapter 7 Skeleton sits in a challenging space in the market, with several competitors battling for your attention. Alongside that, creating an integrated bracelet sports watch that stands out from the rest can be problematic because, by definition, the case designs of these watches are strikingly similar. Yet, BA111OD has managed to make the Chapter 7 stand out with quality and value for money, alongside a dial which sits way above its station in terms of design.

ba111od chapter 7 skeleton 15

I would challenge anyone at a watch meet to guess the price of the Chapter 7 Skeleton in person, because this level of design consideration, combined with this finishing and quality from a Swiss independent brand that you’re unlikely to see anyone else wearing, is not something you would tend to find at the lower end of the market. Plus, even if you’re not trying to win the watch meet Top Trumps competition, it’s a stunning watch to look at and wear in its own right.
