BA111OD strengthens its watchmaking credentials with BCP Tourbillons acquisition and new Chapter 4 Tourbillon T.V.D.

  • Swiss brand BA111OD announces the acquisition of BCP Tourbillons, expanding its in-house technical abilities and taking a significant step forward for the company.
  • To mark the occasion, BA111OD has unveiled the Chapter 4 Tourbillon T.V.D., containing the brand’s first internally developed tourbillon movement.
  • The movement is chronometer-certified and built with real-world durability in mind, offering resistance to 2000 gauss and shocks up to 5000 G.

BA111OD has just taken a significant step forward, and it goes far beyond a single watch release. On the eve of Watches & Wonders 2026, the Neuchâtel-based brand has announced the acquisition of BCP Tourbillons, a respected movement developer and long-standing partner. It’s a move that shifts the conversation around BA111OD, taking it from a brand working with strong external suppliers to one that is now actively building its own technical backbone.

By bringing tourbillon development closer to home, BA111OD gains a level of control that very few young brands can claim, while securing a key part of its future. The first result of that comes in the form of the new Chapter 4 Tourbillon T.V.D., a watch that feels like a natural progression, but also a clear statement of intent.

The Chapter 4 Tourbillon T.V.D. continues BA111OD’s familiar design language, but everything feels more resolved. The case is available in both 39mm and 43mm variations, offering flexibility without changing the overall identity, and is crafted from 904L stainless steel with a tantalum-grey DLC coating that adds a darker, more technical edge.

At 12.9mm thick, including the crystal, it remains relatively restrained given the complication inside, and the finishing plays a big role in how it presents itself. Polished surfaces contrast with vertically satin-brushed case sides, while a recessed sandblasted section adds depth that becomes more noticeable the longer you look at it. The crown sits at 4 o’clock, a familiar BA111OD touch, and the overall construction feels deliberate.

The dial is where this new Chapter 4 really separates itself. Semi-openworked in construction, it has been designed to draw your attention directly to the tourbillon at 7 o’clock, while also offering a clearer view of the barrel, which becomes a focal point in its own right. There is a shift here towards creating depth through structure rather than relying on colour alone. The centre of the dial has been opened up, allowing the key mechanical elements to take focus, while the surrounding layers add detail without overwhelming the layout.

The anthracite hands and faceted indexes are filled with Super-LumiNova, maintaining high legibility without drawing attention away from the movement. A blued screw within the tourbillon cage doubles as a small seconds indicator, a smart detail that feels integrated rather than merely decorative. Overall, the dial balances openness and control, giving you access to the mechanics while still feeling composed.

The most important development sits beneath the skeletonised surface. Powering the Chapter 4 Tourbillon T.V.D. is the new BA.01 hand-wound calibre, the brand’s first internally developed tourbillon movement following the acquisition of BCP Tourbillons. It beats at 21,600 Vph and delivers a substantial 120-hour power reserve, placing it firmly in serious territory. The use of a variable-inertia balance reinforces that this is about more than visual impact, with performance clearly a priority.

The movement is chronometer-certified by Timelab, adding further credibility, and it is built with real-world durability in mind, offering 120 hours of power reserve, and resistance to 2000 gauss and shocks up to 5000G. Those figures are unusual for a tourbillon at this level and underline the brand’s focus on making high-end watchmaking more usable. Visually, the openworked dial keeps the mechanics constantly on display, and the positioning of the tourbillon at 7 o’clock adds a slight asymmetry that keeps the watch engaging without disrupting its balance.

Finishing the watch is a black crocodile-effect embossed calf leather strap with black stitching and a folding clasp. It also features a quick strap-change system, which is always a welcome addition. It is a simple choice, but it works well here. The strap anchors the watch in something familiar and wearable, allowing the case and movement to take centre stage.
