And one more thing… The last Zenith Defy Classics ever just dropped in collaboration with Fusalp

Zach Blass

I am by no means an avid skier. My first experience on the slopes was last year on a press trip with Hublot, my instructor bluntly telling me that my next ski adventure should also have an instructor on hand as well. But, in preparation for that first trip, I definitely was immersed in the ski-attire world as I prepared for my outing. This dedicated segment of clothing is comprised of many brands, but the French ski-couture company Fusalp, definitely prioritises the aesthetics and style of their ski-wear as much as the technical requirements of such clothing. And, in partnership with Zenith, Fusalp has designed a collaborative limited-edition duo of Zenith Defy Classic watches – the last watches to be released in the collection before it is finally discontinued – to commemorate the opening of their Zurich boutique.

Reaching your star in winter fashion

Zenith Defy Classic Fusalp

The Zenith Defy Classic Fusalp Limited Editions come in the form of one material in two shades. Both configurations are fashioned in 100 metre, water-resistant 41mm ceramic cases, 10.5mm thick and 45mm lug-to-lug across the wrist. But one is rendered in black ceramic with a colour-matching textured black rubber strap with folding clasp, and the other in white ceramic with a matching textured white rubber strap with folding clasp. Their dials, while slightly different colour schemes, share a common thread.

Both have a wintery take on the Zenith star motif, specially remixed into a snowflake-styled star for the openworked dial. Another few added touches for the limited editions are the French-inspired blue, white, and red rings beneath the applied hour indices, and an openworked rose-gold (presumably toned) layer just above the visible movement beneath to create the illusion of three-dimensional depth to the Zenith star/snowflake motif. Ticking away inside, and exhibited through a sapphire caseback, is the in-house automatic calibre Elite 670 SK with 50 hours of power reserve and a highly anti-magnetic silicon pallet lever and escape wheel.
