New releases from Alto, Breguet, Chaykin and more
Pietro PillaThese past seven days have had several irons in the fire. It’s a longer LWIW list than usual, but I’d really suggest you read to the end, as there’s no filler. From independent brand Alto unveiling a wearable piece of art to Chaykin giving a mystery-clock treatment to the already impressive thinnest watch in the world, there’s plenty to take in. Add to that perhaps the best Baltic yet, with its interpretation of a world timer, and Breguet expanding the options in the Tradition collection. We’re strapped in for next week, because if this is the trend, we’ll see some incredible pieces in Geneva at Watches and Wonders. Enjoy the reading!
Alto Art 01 Bernar Venet
- The Art 01 becomes the canvas for French artist Bernar Venet to express his unique creative drive, in a constant tension between geometric order and entropy.
- This is the result of a two-year-long dialogue to translate the monumental sculptural language into such a small scale, while preserving its integrity.
- Both the case and the dial are crafted from a proprietary bronze alloy, which has developed patina but then stabilised to lock the desired look over time.
- Price: on request

Breguet Tradition
- Breguet expands the Tradition, first introduced in 2005, with five new references adding new colours and movement finishings.
- With diameters spanning from 37 to 40mm, they all feature an off-centre dial that leaves most of the space to the movement.
- Breguet numerals have replaced the Roman numerals of the previous references, and the central barrel cover receives a hand-guilloché snailed pattern.
- Price: from €51,400

Konstantin Chaykin ThinKing Mystery
- Following 2024’s introduction of the thinnest watch ever created, Chaykin adds a Mystery complication to the already impressive ThinKing.
- Still measuring 1.65mm in thickness, the eyes that tell the time now look like they’re floating as they’re printed on two sapphire discs with external gears.
- The movement architecture remains the same as the previous edition, with the caseback also serving as the base plate and a redesigned balance wheel and hairspring to allow for that thickness.
- Price: on request

- Available with Labradorite, tiger eye and sodalite, each stone will be limited to 200 pieces in this first series.
- Price: from €1,300
