14 of the best watches spotted in ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’Felix Scholz
Editor’s note: Jerry Seinfeld has dropped another series of the excellent Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, so we thought we’d repost Dan’s wrap from last year of some of the most interesting watches worn on the series. Stay tuned for the update …
Jerry Seinfeld can do no wrong, and after having been streamed more than 100 million times, Seinfeld’s pet project, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, recently premiered its new season on Netflix after nine seasons as a web series on the digital network Crackle.
Staying true to the title’s premise, this simple yet compelling series sees Jerry introduce a new celebrity comedian in each episode, picking them up in a unique vintage car and heading out for coffee. The pair then riff, unscripted, on all manner of topics to varying comedic degree.
It’s safe to say that where there are celebrities there are luxury watches. We take a look at some of the best from this season and those that preceded it.
Season 10, Episode 1: Jerry Seinfeld wears a G-Shock ‘Rangeman’
In this episode, Jerry picks up The Hangover star and Between Two Ferns host Zach Galifianakis in a ridiculous VW Thing. Based on the German World War II equivalent of the Jeep, it makes sense that on his wrist is the rugged and just about everything-proof G-Shock Rangeman.
Season 10, Episode 2: Dave Chappelle wears an Apple Watch
When you’re as popular and hardworking as hit stand-up comic, actor, writer and producer Mr Dave Chappelle, it’s hard to go past the functionality and utility of the Apple Watch.
Season 10, Episode 2: Jerry Seinfeld wears a 1990s Breitling Navitimer
At the other end of the spectrum, in the same episode that we see Dave Chappelle rocking the Apple Watch, host Jerry Seinfeld is sporting a Breitling Navitimer with the familiar 12,6,9 layout of the Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement. Hint: this isn’t the only Breitling you’ll see Jerry wearing in this list.
Season 10, Episode 3: Ellen DeGeneres wears a ‘Paul Newman’ Rolex Daytona
If you’ve ever seen an episode of the The Ellen DeGeneres Show, you’ll know that Emmy-winning host Ellen loves her vintage Rolex. And with Jerry also clearly a fan of watches, it was no surprise to see her show up wearing the heaviest of vintage Rolex heavyweights, a Rolex ‘Paul Newman’ Daytona.
Season 10, Episode 3: Jerry Seinfeld wears a Breitling Aerospace
See, I told you there’d be more Breitling in the list. Driving Ellen DeGeneres around in a mustard yellow 1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser, Jerry can be seen wearing an “ana-digi” Breitling Aerospace.
Season 10, Episode 4: Jerry Seinfeld wears a Breitling Cosmonaute 01 Black Steel
Jerry Seinfeld’s love of Breitling continues. In this episode he takes comedian and former Saturday Night Live star Tracy Morgan for a drive in a 1984 Ferrari 288 GTO while sporting a Breitling Cosmonaute 01 Black Steel.
Season 10, Episode 6: Dana Carvey wears a Casio G-Shock
Another former Saturday Night Live star, the incredibly funny Mr Dana Carvey, wears a classic Casio G-Shock while rolling around with Jerry in a Meyers Manx Dune Buggy.
Season 10, Episode 11: Alec Baldwin wears a custom ‘blacked-out’ Rolex Daytona
Actor, writer, producer and comedian Alec Baldwin grew up in the same small town as Jerry Seinfeld. In this episode, they take a drive to their shared hometown in a 1974 BMW 3.0 CS coupe and we get a glimpse at a customised “blacked-out” Rolex Daytona on the wrist of Mr Baldwin.
Season 10, Episode 12: Jerry Lewis wears a Bulgari Quartz
In what would be the final on-screen appearance of Mr Jerry Lewis — who sadly passed away on August 20, 2017 — the “King of Comedy” can be seen wearing a Bulgari Quartz watch, which later sold at an auction of his estate for US$1920.
Season 10, Episode 12: Jerry Seinfeld wears a Heuer ‘Siffert’ Autavia
With Jerry Seinfeld’s love of cars and watches it makes perfect sense that he would rock the legendary racing chronograph that is the Heuer ‘Siffert’ Autavia.
Season 4, Episode 11: Louis C.K. wears a Rolex Submariner
In this episode, Jerry and actor/comedian Louis C.K. go for a drive in a zany 1959 Fiat Jolly before taking Louis C.K’s Rolex Submariner for a trip (and a coffee) on his boat.
Season 2, Episode 2: Kevin Hart wears a Rolex Sky-Dweller
While racing around in a 1959 Porsche RSK Spyder, on the wrist of comedian and actor Kevin Hart is a Rolex Sky-Dweller. A great choice for one of the busiest comedic actors in Hollywood right now.
Season 2, Episode 1: President Barack Obama wears a Fitbit
Being President of the United States of America has got to be one stressful job. And in this episode we see now former President Barack Obama take Jerry for a drive while keeping track of his heart rate with a Fitbit strapped to his wrist.
Season 3, Episode 10: Cedric the Entertainer wears a Richard Mille (most likely a) RM011-FM Rose Gold
The big personality that is Cedric the Entertainer is matched by his wristwear — a Richard Mille that looks to be a RM011-FM in rose gold.
