You’ve probably sought this information out before, or had it mansplained to you by your dad, or, like I did many years ago, found the (incredible) Hamilton video embedded below. Whatever the case, we recommend you watch our video with Carson Chan, Head of Mission, Greater China at the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, for the fact that he breaks how a mechanical watch works down in the most economic and memorable way. And also for the reason that he explains why mechanical watchmaking remains such a current, and competitive pursuit.

For further viewing, this is well worth 20-minutes of your time. How a mechanical watch works, by Hamilton.
