We don’t know if Oris ensured that their latest diver, the Aquis Date Orange was released in time for Halloween, but we certainly hope so.

Because this guy is pretty much the perfect Halloween watch; spooky. yet fun. The 43mm PVD case and ceramic bezel in black are an obvious Halloween choice, and adding dark orange luminous inserts on the hands and applied indices is clearly inspired by jack-o-lanterns.

And what’s more, the watch, rated to 300 meters, with fat crown guards, sapphire crystal and proven Sellita automatic movement are capable of handling everything trick or treaters could throw at it, and look good doing so. Plus the orange rubber strap is bright enough to be easily visible in the dark.

Oris might want us to believe that they went with orange because it’s legible underwater, and have added a clasp that is adjustable while on the wrist because it’s a diving watch that’s designed for divers but we know what watch we want to be wearing this Halloween.

In all seriousness Oris are one of the great  Swiss champions of ‘sensibly’ priced luxury watches, which might seem a bit oxymoronic. But, with their watches (Oris only make mechanical watches BTW) priced in the sub $5k range they definitely offer a product that, while being of rock solid quality and construction is less eyewatering to the bank balance than many other Swiss brands – and there’s always a place in the market for that.

The Oris Aquis Date Orange has an Australian retail of $2000.
