MY WATCH JOURNEY: Alan’s Tudor Pelagos

Felix Scholz

We’ve never done a watch journey as short as this before. When we spoke to Alan, he’d had his blue Tudor Pelagos (the first in Australia) for less than 24 hours. You see, Alan is the lucky entrant of the inaugural T+T reader survey who walked away with the award-winning Tudor Pelagos. For the last few months he’s been on tenterhooks, knowing the watch was his, but waiting for it to arrive in Australia. Well, the other week it landed.

Even though you’ve only had the Pelagos for a day or so, what are your first impressions?

I never thought I’d wear an all blue watch, but the particular shade of matte blue Tudor have used is stunning and really makes the watch pop off your wrist. The 42mm size is perfect, and it’s thick enough to stand out as a dedicated dive watch. The titanium bracelet is so comfortable and makes the watch light to wear. With the warmer weather here, this is the perfect summer watch.

What surprised you about the watch?

The spring-loaded self-adjustable bracelet is really impressive. But I’m also looking forward to the 70 hours power reserve – even though I haven’t owned it for 70 hours yet!

Tell us about the moment you first met your new watch.

I met the Time+Tide team at Tudor’s Melbourne HQ.  I’d been there before, but never in this way – I was greeted by Tudor staff and taken upstairs to the office of Patrick Boutellier, General Manager, who presented me with the watch. My heart was racing! An incredible experience, that I’ll never forget.

Alan can’t wait to get in the water with his new Pelagos.

What excites you most about your new watch?

I look forward to wearing the Pelagos on my next dive trip and never taking it off.
