COMPETITION: The winner of the Tudor Pelagos!

Andrew McUtchen

It’s been an exciting 24 hours at Time+Tide. Well, that’s one word for it. The others might be along the lines of trepidation (who was going to win the watch?), exhilaration (when the winner proved to be a huge watch fan) and then gratitude, once again, for all the feedback we have received from the survey. But, without any further ado, or stalling, we can now announce that the winner of the blue Tudor Pelagos is Alan Harrosh, of Melbourne, congratulations again Alan!It turned out the trepidation was unfounded. Alan, who was selected from the pool by using a random number generator in Excel (thanks Excel Jedi Andy Green), had some great suggestions in his response for improvements and some valuable thoughts on directions we can go from here.

Alan likes the fact that Time+Tide is an Australian site,  but would like to see more interviews with influential personalities (he loved our video with Mark Bouris)

The last word you would choose to describe the tone in the office today would, perfectly naturally, be envy. Andy is not the only Green at HQ today…. Alan will soon be walking away with a blue Tudor Pelagos from the very first shipment to Australia – and by the sounds of his plans, it will not be beginning life as a desk diver: “I actually dive so I can’t wait to test it out, even though I’m a little bit nervous about wearing something so nice underwater”

A MINUTE WITH THE WINNER OF THE TUDOR PELAGOS (THAT’S ALL WE COULD GET BECAUSE HE WANTED TO CALL HIS WIFE WITH THE GOOD NEWS)

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INTO WATCHES?

“I bought my first good watch five years ago – a Breitling Superocean heritage chrono – and since discovering your site I’ve gotten hooked on watches, so a few months ago I picked up a Rolex BLNR.”

The review by Bruce Duguay of the Rolex GMT Master II ‘BLNR’ is, in fact, our most read review ever. A testament to his lovely turn of phrase.

WHY THAT ONE?

“Well believe it or not I wanted something a little bit less blingy than my Breitling – your review helped push me over the edge”

Alan wants to see more videos, like our recent chat with Mark Bouris, on Time+Tide

WHAT DID YOU KNOW ABOUT TIME+TIDE BEFORE THE COMP?

“To be honest, it’s one of those sites I’m a bit addicted to. I check in every two or three days and see what’s been happening in the watch world. I really like the videos. One of my favourite stories recently was the “what makes a keeper watch” – I actually read it to my wife.”

WHAT’S YOUR TAKE ON THE TUDOR PELAGOS – DID YOU KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU WON ONE (FELIX CHOKES)?

“Until recently I’d never paid much attention to Tudor, but it’s actually an amazing brand. All the technology in this new model is awesome.”

CONGRATULATIONS ALAN, MAY YOU ENJOY THE WATCH IN GOOD HEALTH AND DEEP WATER!
